Zach and Morgan, the easiest going, happiest bride and groom EVER! Married in Grand Rapids, Michigan in August 2020!

I think it is safe to say that 2020 brides and grooms most definitely went through the ringer.  So many plans were changed and adjusted or quite simply scratched altogether.  But personally, I was so happy and thrilled to see how many couples just made the best of the situation they had been tossed into--one of those couples being my amazing cousin Zach and his beyond perfect fiancé (now WIFE!!), Morgan.

Zach and Morgan had originally planned for a May wedding to be held at Waterview Loft at Port Detroit.  It was going to be gorgeous, green and a fabulous party--UNTIL 2020 happened and the coronavirus pandemic threw a massive wrench into their plans.  Rather than succumb to defeat, however, they opted for a stunning, intimate gathering close to their home in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Save the Date

My first piece completed while working with this awesome couple was a sweet little save the date card that featured one of their stunning engagement pictures.  We knew right off the bat that Zach and Morgan’s wedding would have a modern, Scandinavian feel so we kept the design simple with a few black lines, a modern sans serif font and let the beautiful couple sort of speak for themselves.  You can check out all of the inspiration I used to complete their custom lookbook (something each and every one of my amazing custom wedding invitation client’s get!) by heading on over to the ALittleAfterNine pinterest board or by clicking here!

Intimate wedding ceremony details

Surrounded by close friends and a few important family members, Zach and Morgan were married on August 15, 2020 at the John Ball Zoo in the Hilltop Pavillion.  One of Morgan’s closest family friends officiated the nuptials and the beautiful ceremony was live streamed for the rest of wedding guests to see.

Morgan’s bridesmaids wore gorgeous emerald green dresses but Morgan herself stole the show in an insanely dazzling white off the shoulder gown from BHLDN.

After the ceremony, the newly married couple took a trolley ride around the city with their bridal party to celebrate and then made their way back to an Air B and B for a small evening gathering filled with love, fireball and plenty of whiteclaws.

Custom Wedding Invitations

Despite their changed plans, we still were able to design some insanely stunning modern, emerald green wedding invitations.  We incorporated watercolor texture, bold black lines and inspiration from greenhouses and forest trees to create something truly unique to their style and that related to their love of hiking and camping.  We also used a fantastic, classy white wax seal on top of vellum belly bands to pull their whole suite together and I honestly couldn’t be more in love with how these fabulous pieces of wedding stationery turned out!

I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with this beautiful couple and even more thankful to have been able to welcome Morgan into our family!  Each detail of their intimate and modern wedding day was perfection and was captured perfectly by Alyssa and Drew Photography.  If you’re planning your own small, intimate gathering, check out more information on some beautiful Day of Wedding Stationery you can include on your big day!
